Floods of 2008
Ok, I was all reckless and decided to take some pictures while driving down the road home form work. Honestly, though, the sites just amazed me!
Everyone of these pictures is not of ponds or lakes near the interstate, these are actually corn fields!!
The water goes on as far as the eye can see for most of these fields.
By now all the them should have had two foot tall plants in them. I read in the paper there was over teo billion dollars in crop loss!
This one is on the drivers side of the car, and some of the flood water was just two or three feet from engulfing the interstate itself! There were areas of I-80 that were closed down close to Iowa City, and Cedar Rapids has homeless now in the thousands.But Newton was pretty lucky because if you head west or east of us there was large destruction due to the floods.
